Daycare, not yet.

Skyler is 3 months, Valkyrie is almost 23 months and Jeff just turned 32…years! (384 months)
Skyler is laughing and smiling so much. She tracks us across the room and moves her head from side to side while she is on her belly. She is getting better at car rides except when her older sister decides to scream, ouch! Skyler knows when we are in the room and when we walk out, because she almost instantly cries for us. She had her first visit to the pumpkin path this weekend, she slept through it but Valkyrie had fun. It is just so beautiful up here this time of year, with the leaves changing color, cold mornings (it was 36 this morning) the low fall light and the smell of wood fires as you drive through the neighborhoods. I just love bundling up the kids and going out for a warm drink and brisk walk. Skyler is becoming much like her sister in the fact she is concerned for others. When Valkyrie is upset and crying Skyler will look at us and her lip will quiver and she gets a look like," is she okay?" Her own personality is coming out in her face. She has big blue eyes, not as big as Valkyries, Skyler's have a bit more shape to them, and she has these cute big ears that stick out. She does have a normal head, unlike her sister. At this stage with Valkyrie she out grew many of her outfits because her head couldn't fit through the opening, not Skyler. Skyler has a cute Buddha belly and when the light hits her head just right a golden halo around her head. She is growing beautifully and as always she makes me happy.

Valkyrie is doing great. She had her papa toy here 2 weeks ago and loved having someone give her 100% attention. She wore papa out, they both went to bed exhausted every night. Valkyrie continues to be a wonder child. Her love for her sister brings tears to our eyes. The other morning while Skyler was still sleeping she went running down the hall as she hear Skyler waking up over the baby monitor and went to where she was in bed and said "good morning Skyler." then kissed her. Doesn't get much sweeter than that. When Skyler is upset and crying she will try to make her happy by making silly faces at her, trying to get her attention, blowing her kisses or even going up to her and saying "hug, Skyler". Valkyrie's spirit and soul are so pure with love for others, I thank the lord for her compassion, and I know she is an old soul here to teach me a lesson. The other night after battling her to take a bath, we both left the bath a wreck, her and I both in tears. Jeff brought Skyler into the room I sat on the floor in tears from feeling upset that Valkyrie gave me such a hard time with the bath, feeling like she doesn't love me. Jeff sat on the floor with me, Skyler in his arms and in came Valkyrie, she ran right up to Skyler said HI and gave her a kiss, then she went right over to me and hugged me and said "sorry mama" I can't tell you how loved I felt at that moment.

Jeff turned 32 last Thursday. Jeff was off with the girls that week so he spent the day picking up trash on our adopt a street. We had a nice birthday dinner for him with some friends at a Japanese place that cooks the food in front of you. We picked if because we thought Valkyrie would have a great time, she did. Until mom (me) told her "Hot" when the guy made a onion flame mountain, then for the rest of the meal she got this worried look on her face and almost cried when he would toss food in the air. oops, sorry ....moms!

We hope you are doing well and thanks for stopping in our blog to see how we are doing.

PS: the title of this blog is in regards to how America’s FMLA leave is way too short (12 weeks...unpaid) and 3 months is too young to put a baby in daycare I’m glad I’m not normal and I still have one more month at home. We really need a face lift on our nation’s ideas of family care, we are so behind the times.
